My first date would probably be very low key, more of a meet/greet for drinks or...
My first date would probably be very low key, more of a meet/greet for drinks or coffee/tea and an in person chat to get to know each other.
Once we have a better sense of each other we can get more personal and/or innovative drawing on an activity that interests both of us. Might quickly move to a romantic candlelit dinner or could be a visit to galleries or museum to view favorite art or sea kayaking if the weather permits. Much prefer that it be tailored to our interests than just a formulaic date.

I would say for a first date, somewhere low-key for a drink.. cafe for a coffee,...
I would say for a first date, somewhere low-key for a drink.. cafe for a coffee, or a bar for a quiet drink or two might be nice. If all's going well, perhaps a bite to eat and/or walk afterwards. I think for a first date, being able to talk and get a feel for each other is the most important thing.

I guess the best place to meet up for the first time, with others from here, would be somewhere like a busy but not too noisy pub/bar so we could talk and get to find out what we're all into and looking for. Then maybe - depending on how everyone felt, possibly move on to a club for an hour or so and see how we all get on

Even though I'm a very confident person, I'm not when I first meet people and can be a bit shy but that soon passes after a nice drink and chat.
I'm happy with most things as a first date (meal, drink, night in, gig, etc, etc)
